11 Pictures Of Canadians Doing Awesome Things

It's Canada Day, and what better way to celebrate than with some pictures of Canadians doing awesome things. We have so much to be proud of and amazed by in this country. Here are a few pictures to prove it:

This is Mike Bolt, the guy who guards the Stanley Cup. And he's just hanging out in an elevator. With the Stanley Cup.

This is Dr. Julio Montaner, the Director of the British Columbia Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS. Dr. Montaner works on better treatments, and reducing mortality and morbidity, for HIV patients in B.C. It doesn't get much more awesome than that.

These are the Skyhawks. They're members of the Canadian Forces who jump out of planes with Canadian flag parachutes and smoke bombs attached to their legs. No big deal.

Alexandra Posadzki is a Canadian Press reporter. In this picture, she is leaning over the edge of the CN Tower. Because that is a thing Canadians do sometimes.

This is Canadian Sidney Crosby. He's excited because he just scored the Golden Goal, winning Canada's hockey team the gold at the Vancouver 2010 Olympics. You'd be excited too.

Whatever your political views, you have to love this pic of our Prime Minister being named chief speaker of the Blood Tribe.

Pilot Lyndon Rush and brakeman Lascelles Brown at the Whistler Bobsled World Cup race back in 2009. Because Canadians like to go fast. (They won gold, by the way).

Hey, it's Julie Payette! And she's floating in mid-air. Because she's in space. Awesome.

This picture was taken in Lillooet, B.C. in 2009 - the people in the foreground are helicopter pilots who were fighting forest fires that day, and the fire they're watching was set on purpose to contain the blaze. Just some hardworking Canadians facing down a dangerous situation.

This is one of the greatest Canadians, Rick Hansen, in 1987, about to break the ribbon after spending TWO YEARS rolling around the world on his Man in Motion tour. He raised massive amounts of awareness (and $26 million) to benefit spinal cord research.

Christopher Plummer is one of the great Canadian actors. And oh look, he's finally holding an Oscar. Nice work catching up with what we've known for decades, Hollywood.
