Among television critics, the five seasons of 'The Wire' get a lot of attention for their multilayered story, trenchant critique of institutional dysfunction in Baltimore's politics, policing, and crime (and by extension wider issues), and literary ambitions. But one thing that is rarely brought up in the conversation is the visual and filmic style of the show. Erlend Lavik, an assistant professor in the Department of Information Science and Media Studies at the University of Bergen, is trying to change that with his video essay, 'Style In 'The Wire'.'
