Peter Mansbridge As You’ve Never Seen Him Before - Going ‘Gangnam Style’

Not sure if you've seen this yet, but this is Peter Mansbridge - no really, it's him.

Our good friend and the CBC's chief correspondent is apparently a fan of 'Gangnam Style', busting a move in a new video for the Stratford Shakespeare Festival.

The video is a parody of the original 'Gangnam Style' video by Korean rapper Psy, which makes fun of the rich lifestyle in the Gangnam district of Seoul.

Peter posted a link to the video on Twitter, saying, "Be kind. I know I can't dance or sing but it's all good fun for a great Festival Theatre!"

Check out the man who puts the man in Mansbridge, at around 1:14.

Peter and his wife Cynthia Dale live in Stratford. Cynthia took the part in the video as well, and you can see her perform at Stratford in '42nd Street' until October 28.

And by the way, Peter has a new blog that gives you a backstage pass to his work as CBC's Chief Correspondent and anchor of The National.

It's called 'Inside the News with Peter Mansbridge'. Check it out here.

The original 'Gangnam Style' video debuted on YouTube July 15 and has gone viral around the world.

According to the folks at Guinness World Records, 'Gangnam Style' holds the record for most "liked" YouTube video of all time.

As of September, it had been liked over 2.1 million times, Guinness officials said.

The Gangnam district in Seoul is about half the size of Manhattan. About one per cent of Seoul's population lives there, but much of the community is quite wealthy.

The average apartment there costs more than $700,000.

It would take an average South Korean household 18 years to make that amount of money.

The Toronto Star has a good write through on the Gangham district and the social commentary behind the song. You can read that here.
