This image (and yes, it's a photograph) of cherry blossom petals being blown in the wind was taken in Nara Park in Nara, Japan. One of the many amazing things about the shot: an amateur photographer snapped it. Hisao Mogi submitted it to National Geographic's Traveler Contest, an international photography competition.
He told the magazine that the pic presented itself when he "sat down on a stump for a rest after a stroll in Nara Park and watched the deer". It was a peaceful scene until a gust of wind blew through, creating a hana fubuki, or flower snowstorm. Click on the pic for a full-size version.
