Jay Baruchel And Alison Pill On Working In Canada

February 14, 2012

On the show tonight: Canadian actors Jay Baruchel and Alison Pill may be head over heels in love, but that doesn't mean they agree on absolutely everything - take, for example, their outlook on working in Canada, a cause especially near and dear to Jay's heart.

Alison Pill on where she chooses to work:

George: (to Alison Pill) So [Jay] has been a big supporter of working in Canada, and making a lot of Canadian productions ... do you feel the same way?

Alison Pill:
No. I love working anywhere with the people I want to work with, and I think if Jay is making amazing horror movies in Montreal, I want to be in every single one of them, or just sweep floors if I can.

Jay Baruchel on being a Canadian celebrity:

Jay Baruchel: I grew up watching our Canadian celebrities make a dent in the States, and the only time they would come back and be on the CBC or be on Canadian movies is when work seemed to dry up for them down there. And that just taught such a terrible cultural lesson to me. And I without a doubt think that this is the best country that the world has come up with so far, so why wouldn't I want to make movies here?
