Ashley Judd On Family Planning And Contraception

As the political conversation in the United States heats up over a "war on women", actor and humanitarian Ashley Judd shares her thoughts on Rick Santorum, religion, and an individual's right to regulate their own fertility.

She's on the show tonight, along with author and minister Bill Blaikie.

Ashley Judd: I think you said it perfectly: we each have the right to regulate our own fertility according to what is appropriate for our lives. And, a lot of poor people especially are denied access, and, I don't understand why someone else thinks it's their right to encroach or constrain that.

On Rick Santorum and his views on contraception:
Ashley: He doesn't have a corner on the faith market. Because I'm sitting here as a lifelong Christian, a person who was raised in churches and went to Sunday school and I still choose the God of my understanding as the God of my childhood... and I'm a Christian and I believe in family planning. The two are not mutually exclusive.
