Show Your Support For Public Broadcasting
July 7, 2011
submit to reddit

Before CBC/Radio-Canada appears before the CRTC to renew their broadcasting licences in September, the CRTC is reaching out to Canadians to hear their thoughts on what they think the role of a public broadcaster should be.

So, if you believe in public broadcasting and want your voice heard, now's a great time to participate!

CBC/Radio-Canada has created a new strategic plan for their renewal application. In it, they've committed to improving the service they offer Canadians over the next five years. That includes producing more Canadian content than they already do, expanding their television/radio services, and doubling their investment in digital platforms to connect with you in even more ways.

Here's how you can help:

  • Join the CRTC's online consultation to speak up about the role you think CBC should play.
  • Write to the CRTC to express your support for CBC/Radio-Canada.
  • Share this information with friends, family, and colleagues you think might want to show support.

The deadline to participate is July 18th, 2011.

You can also raise awareness by adding a "I Support CBC" badge to your Twitter or Facebook display pictures here.

To encourage thoughtful and respectful conversations, first and last names will appear with each submission to CBC/Radio-Canada's online communities (except in children and youth-oriented communities). Pseudonyms will no longer be permitted.
