Hey Canada: Come Hang Out At The CBC Today And Support Local Food Banks
December 7, 2012
submit to reddit

All right: it's a great day to help fight hunger by supporting your local food bank. CBC personalities and shows across the country are coming together to raise funds and gather food donations.

So if you're free, come and visit your local CBC building for some awesome events and the chance to meet some CBC personalities.

Just make sure you bring along a non-perishable food item or two, or a cash donation to help local food banks.

Here's a guide to what's happening where.

CBC Vancouver Open House & Food Bank Day - Donations Accepted 5:30 am - 7 pm, Open House 8 am - 6 pm

George will be at CBC Vancouver all day, so come hang out with him, as well as Peter Mansbridge, Ian Hanomansing, Adam Beach and Pascale Hutton from 'Arctic Air', Graham Wardle, Jessica Amlee and Alisha Newton from 'Heartland', David Chilton from 'Dragons' Den', and Erica Johnson and Tom Harrington from 'Marketplace'.

There's also a tour of the newsroom on offer, and lots of sweet prizes to be won. Don't miss it.

CBC Toronto Sounds Of The Season - 5:30 am - 6:30 pm

Hit the CBC Broadcasting Centre in Toronto for Sounds of the Season. Tons of cool stuff is happening all day, including a performance from Nelly Furtado, plus live broadcasts of Metro Morning and CBC News Toronto.

Hang out and meet Matt Galloway, Georgina Reilly from Murdoch Mysteries, Dwight Drummond and Anne-Marie Mediwake, Q's Jian Ghomeshi, Mr. D's Naomi Snieckus, Booth Savage and Suresh John, CBC Radio's Tom Power, Jeff Douglas of As It Happens, Sports Weekend's Scott Russell and more. Plus, there's a silent auction, with all proceeds going to local food banks. Should be a great time.

CBC Calgary Suncor Energy Food Bank Drive - Jam the Van

Today you can "Jam the Van" at the Southcentre Mall. CBC Calgary is trying to fill a Purolator delivery van with non-perishable food donations for the Calgary Food Bank and turkeys for Erin's Turkey Drive. Be there any time between 2 pm and 7 pm. And there are lots of other activities planned in the next few weeks. Check out this page to see them all.

CBC Hamilton - Food Bank Drop-Off

Starting today, and continuing until December 21, CBC Hamilton is accepting donations on behalf of Hamilton Food Share. Every donor is automatically entered to win a CBC Sounds of the Season gift pack.

CBC Saskatchewan Comfort & Joy Campaign - December 10-17

Starting December 10, CBC Saskatchewan is running the Comfort & Joy Campaign. If you want to help put food on the table during the holidays for families in need, you can purchase a Christmas hamper for $75 (or part of a hamper for less). It's a great way to ensure that hungry people get a proper holiday meal.

CBC Kamloops, Kelowna, Prince George, Prince Rupert and Victoria

It's Food Bank Day at all of these CBC locations, and there are open houses, live broadcasts and meet and greets at all five. Come by, bring a donation, and meet your favourite local personalities.
