Have you ever noticed that when you start typing something into an internet search engine these days, it will try to guess the rest of the phrase you're using?

Randall Munroe, the artist behind the xkcd comics, noticed that a lot of surprising questions were showing up in the search field when he typed in the word "why."

So he took a bunch of them and created this panel, which is mesmerizing.

From the universal ("Why is life so boring," "Why don't boys like me") to the very, very specific ("Why is there an owl outside my window"), the questions offer a fascinating look at the questions people want answers to.

And if you'd like some answers... This guy has actually provided them.

Redditor GeeJo has responded to every question in the comic. If you have some serious time to kill, and you'd like to learn some things of questionable worth, check them out.
