Our friend Jeremy Taggart (whom you might know best as the drummer for Our Lady Peace) stopped by today with a message about Foodstock, the massive outdoor concert / food celebration he's hosting this Sunday, October 16th, from 11am-5pm in Honeywood, Ontario.
Organizers are hoping the event will draw 20,000 people, as well as raise awareness about - and funds to fight - the proposed limestone mega-quarry to be built by a US-based multibillion dollar hedge fund on 2300 acres of prime Ontario farmland. The quarry would also affect 60 million litres of aquifer water per day.
Musical acts like Jim Cuddy of Blue Rodeo, Sarah Harmer and Ron Sexsmith will perform, while super-chefs like Michael Stadtlander and Jamie Kennedy - as well as about 100 other gourmet cooks - will prepare dishes with local ingredients.
