Sesame Street, and Ernie specifically, taught us that Rubber Ducky was the one who made bathtime lots of fun.

Well, a Dutch conceptual artist named Florentijn Hofman has upped the fun ante by creating a giant inflatable rubber duck. And this one is currently floating in Hong Kong's Victoria Harbour.

Since 2007, the 16.5 metre (54 foot) tall Rubber Duck has traveled to a dozen cities around the world, including Osaka, Japan; Sydney, Australia; Sao Paulo, Brazil and Amsterdam in Holland.

It'll be shown at Hong Kong's Ocean Terminal for a month and is the first floating exhibition the city has ever had.

As Hofman puts it, the rubber duck "knows no frontiers, it doesn't discriminate against people and doesn't have a political connotation." Rubber ducks bring back "childhood memories...and connects everyone."

Australian director Patrick Nolan, who filmed a harbour spectacle in Sydney when the duck arrived down under, said "there is something about it that's quite joyous... it has a presence and an energy."
