Andrey Pavlov has some wild ant-asies. Pavlov, a Russian photographer, got interested in ants following a spinal injury seven years ago that left him immobilized. He started reading about ant behaviour, and discovered that ants care for the weaker members of their community. In the course of his studies, he became fascinated by the tiny creatures' behavior, and decided to apply what he learned to create a series of photographs.
All of these pictures were taken with live ants posing on props that Pavlov built himself. He spends the months from May to October each year at a country cottage, where he spent three years learning the habits of the red forest ants he photographs. The photo series is called 'Ant Stories'. Check out some of the pics below:
