Name: "Jenny-girl"
Age: 17
Jenny has been online for six years and been designing Websites for four. When she was learning, she got tips from a girl in Arizona who had a Webcam. Jenny started her site using an old security camera that shot in black and white - but she says she got compliments through e-mail even then.
"I have low self esteem so the compliments and nice words kept me going at it. I eventually got my domain a year and a few months ago and my hits have grown to over a thousand a day because of the Cam."
Sexy pics
Jenny says, "I won't show any nudity. I'll occasionally flash my tummy or make a sexy pose but that's nothing considering you can see things worse than that easily in public."
Jenny doesn't make money from her site; although she is considering selling merchandise like mugs, mouse pads and other items with logos she designed. She thinks the stereotype of Cam Girls making money by revealing themselves is overblown. "My mother visits my site so I have to watch what I say, but for the most part it's a place for me to vent and have a good time."
Running the site
Jenny runs her site by herself. A friend hosts her and helps her with her chat but she creates all her own graphics and types her HTML on Notepad. She asks for help online if she needs codes or help with Java but all the content is her own and she likes the feeling of doing things independently.
Creeps and stalkers
Jenny says there are lots of people who ask her to get naked, flash them, or show her feet or tongue. If people are excessive or obnoxious, Jenny puts them on her ignore list or kicks them off her chat. She hasn't had anyone bug her after doing that; "I try to give the people who visit my site as much respect as possible and I expect nothing less."
Jenny says she's not especially worried about getting stalked. "The fear is there, in the back of my mind, but like people have the tendency to do, I think it's not going to happen to me." She says she's made good friends on the Internet and had online friends visit her in person without problems. "No one's ever threatened or suggested stalking me so it's no problem for me right now."
Cam community
"The 'Cam Scene' is like online high school...except the attractive computer geeks are the most popular and adored." Jenny says if you're mentioned on www.internetgossip.net, you're considered popular and adored by "teeny-bopper Cam Girls."
Jenny says the community is tight. Everyone seems to know one another and link to one another. "It's a lot bigger and much more complex than most people would originally assume."
