What's My Beef? Pepsi Points!

I'm pissed at Pepsi and here's why:

I don't know anyone who drinks as much Pepsi as I do. I pretty much live off the stuff. I think it's great that Pepsi has decided to reward its drinkers by setting up this rewards program this past summer. I got very excited when I saw all the great Stuff I could win. However, that excitement quickly disappeared when I realized how much pop I would have to drink to win.

You need 2,000 Pepsi points in order to get one of the top prizes, a Sony digital camera.

I did the calculations and I would have to drink 400 cases of diet Pepsi in just under 4 months in order to win the digital camera. Come on Pepsi, now that's just ridiculous! Do you know how much 400 cases of pop costs? I do. Again, I did the calculations. A case of diet Pepsi at my local grocery store goes for about $4.00. 400 cases of pop, therefore, would run me $1,600. A good quality digital camera goes for about $500.

My beef - The contest is designed so that the ordinary drinker gets nothing substantial from their excessive consumption of your product. Just under 4 months is simply not enough time to collect points. I love Pepsi, but if I drank 400 cases, that's 4,800 cans of diet Pepsis, in 114 days, that would be 42 Pepsis per day. Wow!!! You might as well hook me up to an IV - how many points for that?

Really, Pepsi, can't we arrange a more realistic target?

Sincerely,
Jennifer Henry

Your Cell Phone
We need cell phone stories. Horror stories. Happy stories. Why did you pick a specific plan or a specific cell phone? Did you get the plan you paid for? Did you get a pre-paid plan or did your parents sign a contract for you (if you're under 18)? Does your cell phone cost way more than you anticipated? Problems with customer service? Make sure you include your province and the brand of your phone.

Quote of the Day

From Forum: General Topics of Discussion-Feminists

Generally, the whole bloody campus is the men's center.

I've talked to a lot of people who have women's centers at their university and they're really great. They offer women information on getting basic self defense training, counselling and a safe place to go. The centers often include a library, legal consulting and genuine support for women studying in a usually male dominated field. They aren't only for women, many have programs for both genders, they just focus primarily on women's issues.

We have feminism because women still aren't equal. We still make less money than men do, in many cases we don't have a choice or access to an alternative to pregnancy, we have to deal with the police not doing enough about abusive spouses/partners, we can't walk down the street at night without being scared and we can't walk down the street in broad fucking daylight without being harassed.

If that's equality, I don't want any part in it.

Letters from you

Dear Street Cents,

My name is Kim and I live in Ontario, Canada. I'm emailing you in regards to a Christina Aguilera song you tried to "re-create". I think that it was the stupidest thing I've ever seen and SO stereotypical. Yes Christina dresses very sexy but that's her image. She also has one of the most powerful and beautiful voices you'll ever hear. In my opinion, she can sing a lot better than Britney. So if you don't like the way she dresses in her videos or in public then DON'T WATCH IT. it's as simple as that my friends.. anyways...

just wanted to tell you how I felt. No hard feelings, your show is cool.

Your Friend,

Kim

None. The spammers don't have my email address. I don't plan on letting them have it.
