Street Cents recruited Kim D'Eon fresh out of school in 1998 and she's been with the CBC ever since. She attended the University of King's College in Halifax, graduating with an honours degree in journalism.

This is Kim's fifth season with Street Cents. During her first season, she worked on the show as a researcher - making the calls and digging up all the dirt on questionable consumer products. As well as researching, Kim jumped at any opportunity to be out in the field, producing stories.

After only a year of researching for the show, the producers approached Kim about a new hosting position. She auditioned and landed the role of co-host on Street Cents. This exciting new opportunity allowed Kim to expand professionally in many ways. She continued to field produce for the show as well as establish herself as a dynamic on-air personality. This is Kim's fourth season hosting Street Cents. Throughout the years, she has contributed as a field producer and writer.

In the time Kim has been with Street Cents, the show has won many awards; including an International Emmy and the Gemini award for best youth show TWO YEARS in a row! Kim was also nominated for a Gemini, in 2000, along with her other co-hosts for best performance on a youth show.

Eager to delve into other broadcasting opportunities, Kim keeps herself busy at the CBC. In the spring, she produced and hosted a half-hour pilot documentary about homeless youth - which took her to the streets of Toronto. This fall, Kim got a chance to co-host with the legendary Don Tremaine on an hour-long 50th anniversary project for CBC Maritimes. She also hosted a half-hour Street Cents special that featured former Street Cents hosts from across the country. On top of that, Kim contributes to CBC's Newsworld Saturday - reporting live on location from Halifax.

Despite sounding so serious, anyone who knows Kim, knows she's a goof at heart. She likes to dance around to hip-hop music and use street slang inappropriately. Kim loves to pack up and go anywhere (especially if there's a cheap plane ticket involved). Some of her favorite memories have been surfing in Hawaii, dogsledding in Nunavut, back-packing around Europe, and roller-coaster-riding up and down the Eastern States. She sees a lot of movies and takes a lot of pictures. And Kim can often be heard bragging about her kitties, Nate and Bean.

This is my third season with Street Cents and my second year in Toronto. I studied Journalism at the Saskatchewan Indian Federated College in the Indian Communication Arts program. In my third year, I applied and won the Joan Donaldson Newsworld Scholarship and spent the summer in Halifax. That's where I met the producers at Street Cents and auditioned for to be a host. I love my job and the great people I get to work with. My favorite part of the job is doing interviews and shooting in cool locations.

I am originally from a small town in Saskatchewan. I am the oldest of five and I have a huge family.

I am really into my boxing class called Fight Club and I got a new pair of gloves for Xmas. I also like to read, I just finished the hours and I'm re-reading Bridget Jones right now along with Life of Pi.

When I'm not shooting SC in TO, I am usually at home in Regina working or going to school. This summer I am planning to travel.

    Darryl Kyte

Darryl Kyte began his journalism career in 1997 when he enrolled in journalism school at the University of King's College. He later graduated with a combined honours degree in journalism and economics.

Darryl's first appearance on Street Cents happened while he was still in journalism school during a student internship with the show on season 12. The following September, Darryl was on his way to law school at Dalhousie University when he was offered a full-time co-host position with Street Cents. Darryl thought the opportunity was too good to pass up and put his law school plans on hold. (He still has plans to attend law school at some point but with the intention of incorporating it into his journalism career.)

Last summer Darryl traveled to Australia and South East Asia and did some freelance journalism. He plans to do the same this summer while travelling in Africa or Europe.

Darryl is currently taking editing, shooting and web-design courses to make himself a more well-rounded journalist. He will be making a guest appearance on The CBC's Great Canadian Dream. So look out for him in the future.

Darryl is just starting his journalistic career and plans to be with the CBC for many years to come.
