Fantasy stock market games

Fantasy stock market sites are a great place for beginners to start. They allow us to invest with virtual money and become familiar with how it works without taking real risks.

The Wilfred Laurier National Stock Market Competition and the TD Waterhouse University Investment Challenge offer two great trading courses. Laurier organizes educational competitions for high school and university/college students. The competitions are held twice a year and teach students how to invest in the markets with different trading techniques. Each student is given a mock $100,000 to invest on the TSE.

The TD Waterhouse competition challenges high school and university students to manage a fantasy $100,000 online brokerage account. Students experience the markets by experimenting with different investment strategies - just like they would with a real account. It's very realistic.

Here are some links to sites that offer online fantasy stock market games and courses. The Laurier and the TD Waterhouse sites won't be sending any spam mail your way, but signing up for some of the other fantasy stock market games could mean you're a potential target for the SPAM.
