Tell me about the dumbest infomercial you've seen on TV. What have you been tempted to buy from an infomercial on TV?

ProActiv Solution

Qasim Khan (15), in Newmarket, Ontario, is one of many viewers who want to know if the acne product ProActiv Solution, works like the infomercial promises.

We get five teens to try the 3-piece ProActiv Solution kit and show viewers they can buy cheaper alternatives in the drugstore. We also slam the ProActiv infomercial for being misleading and manipulative.

Tha Basement

Matt Scobel (a.k.a. Scobes) and his friends in St. Catherines, Ontario, knocked down the walls in his basement to create not just any old basement, but "Tha Basement".

Tampax commercial

Mary Blakely (15), from Ottawa, says the flying applicators in the Tampax commercial are neither "inspiring" nor "liberating."

Coke Coupons

Norm Li in St. John's asks an ethical question about cashing in free Coke coupons after he complained about a piece of metal in his can. He wants to make more of a stink but wonders if he can now that he's accepted the freebe.  We ask students if Norm did the right thing.

Nintendo GameBoy Advance

Mauro Nero (14) in Sudbury says the new GameBoy Advance is supposed to be so much better than the older version, yet the screen is so dark, it's really hard to see the games. We get three gamers to critique the new GameBoy Advance.

I Am Canadian commercial

Andrew Laht (14), from Oakville, Ontario, sends his deepest sympathies to the advertising department at Molson Canadian. Their ad depicts a bunch of white people doing Canadian activities--like building the Railway--and ignores the ethnic diversity that IS Canada.

Glossy Lipstick

Allison McIntyre, age 15, from Quistamis, New Brunswick, has a beef with  Maybelline Wet Shine lip color.  We street test two brands of lipsticks that claim to give you the shiny wet look and give tips on how to get glossy lips without buying those products.
