Educating the public about investing is one of the ways securities regulators carry out our responsibility for investor protection. An important goal for our educational activities is to encourage young people to become involved in their own financial affairs, specifically saving and investing. As the people who regulate the industry, provincial and territorial securities regulators are an objective source of information.

About the CSA

So, you want to live in a mansion with a BMW in the driveway? Maybe you want to save up your money so you can travel around the world? Or, you might even be thinking about retirement?

Investing money early is one way to help achieve these goals. That's because the earlier we start investing, the better position we'll be in later in life. The Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) are here to help you safeguard your intrests.

The CSA is a voluntary association with regional regulators across the country. These provincial and territorial regulators can provide you with information on investing wisely.

The CSA regulators are a great resource. They keep tabs on Canadian stock exchanges and organizations in the investment industry. They set the ground rules for people issuing, trading or advising in stocks, bonds and mutual funds in Canada. Sometimes they're called "the securities industry cop" because they make, and enforce, rules in the investment industry. They make sure that traded companies, stockbrokers, dealers and advisers treat us fairly and honestly;

If you have questions about the value of investing, if you want facts about investing and saving, or, if you want to learn the investment industry lingo, check with your provincial regulator. There's tons of info on the regional websites and professionals are always available to work with youth groups.
