Election home stretch underway

The party leaders are preparing for a whirlwind final weekend before Monday's election as they try to solidify support in an electorate still seen as volatile.

Liberal Leader Paul Martin heads for Atlantic Canada on Friday. He plans rallies in St. John's and Fredericton.

Conservative Leader Stephen Harper continues to campaign in the Toronto area, a traditional Liberal stronghold where the Tories hope to make gains.

Polls are showing the Conservatives in a solid lead in recent weeks, but the latest surveys suggest the Liberals could be rebounding and that voting intentions are still changing.

Jack Layton is in British Columbia on Friday, where the NDP hopes to pick up seats.
