The Green party in the Yukon will field a candidate in the federal election ... but he'll be doing his campaigning from New Zealand.
A party meeting in Whitehorse on Wednesday night failed to draw any interest from the public. The only ones who showed up were party organizers.
Philippe LeBlond, who ran for the party in 2004, says he'll let his name stand again, though he won't be around to campaign.
LeBlond is leaving the territory next week to visit family and take a vacation in New Zealand. He won't be back in the Yukon until after the votes are counted on Jan. 23.
He says he tried to find another candidate because of his travel plans.
Even though he won't be around to campaign, LeBlond says it's important to give voters a choice.
The party has also had difficulty finding a candidate to run in the adjoining riding in the Northwest Territories.
