Liberal and Conservative candidates in Saint John, N.B., say they won't campaign door to door during the holidays.
Liberal Paul Zed and Conservative John Wallace have promised to take a break from voters' doorsteps between Dec. 20 and Jan. 2.
Canadians will go to the polls on Jan. 23 following a lengthy election campaign in the dead of winter.

Zed says dozens of people in the city have told him the holidays must be reserved for friends and family – not politicians.
Zed is also setting aside time to spend with his family, but he says that doesn't mean his campaign will come to a halt.
"Obviously attending Christmas functions with the childrens' school, [there are] musicals and school plays going on. [This is an] opportunity to spend time at a number of churches that have invited me to be there."
Wallace said his party will be making a similar announcement in the coming days.
"Christmas is something to be enjoyed and to be respected. That's just the way it will be with our party," said Wallace. "I don't think it's something that requires great press releases and announcements. It's just the obvious."
Zed's campaign will kick off at noon on Monday with the Liberal nomination convention.
Wallace's nomination was held in May.
No one has been nominated yet for the NDP or the Green party in the Saint John riding.
