Party in Fashion at Any Age

When hosting your own party, you want to feel like the belle of the ball whether you're in your 30s, 40s or 50s. Genny Iannucci shows us fabulous options to keep you looking gorgeous throughout the evening, along with tips to dress for success as a stunning host.

Be prepared for the perfect party by organizing your outfit prior to the day. You want to look pulled together and not hurried! When planning your outfit, think of the three Cs: comfort, chic and cool. Finally, treat yourself to a blowout, or mani and ped the day before the party. A little pampering will help you relax!

Party in Your 30s

Surrounded by friends, finger foods and drinks, prep for a relaxed atmosphere with lots of standing and dancing.

Party in Fashion in Your 30s

Hostess tip: Select an outfit and accessories that work with the type of party you're hosting. Overdressing can make guests feel uncomfortable. Also be sure to keep hands and arms free of any bangles and rings that can get in the way. Instead, focus on the neck or ears with accessories.

Keep it age-appropriate: Step it up from your everyday look. Bold splashes of colour like this orange necklace and yellow shoes keep it fresh and fun.

Make it fashion forward: Floral denim is a strong trend for spring. Choose a top in the darker background colour that creates gorgeous length through the body.

Party in Your 40s

Prep for a cocktail party with a smaller crowd. A semi-formal setting with hors d'ouevres is great for sitting and mingling.

Hostess Tip: Dresses are ideal. They're one piece, and ruching flatters and camouflages, meaning you don't have to worry about going for that extra canapé!

Keep it age-appropriate: Keep dress length at the knee when wearing a form-fitting dress.

Make it fashion-forward: Don't always go for black -- magenta is a hot new colour choice for the season! Floral print shoes are also on trend right now, and you can wear them even if they don't perfectly match your outfit.

Party in Your 50s

Food, wine and good conversation help make a sit-down dinner party perfect.

Party in Fashion in Your 50s

Hostess tip: Avoid long, billowy sleeves -- you don't want to flambé your top or serve sleeves with your main course! Go for three quarter, short or sleeveless.

Keep it age-appropriate: Make sure your outfit is sexy, but not overly revealing. As we mature, colour up close to the face is so much more flattering than black.

Make it fashion forward: Think style and comfort! Jewelled flats to mid height heels.
