Beauty expert Cheryl Gushue says there's a lot we can learn from mature celebrity beauty. Here's a look at what she considers their hits, misses, and some tips we can learn from them.
Sandra Bullock: John Shearer/The Canadian Press; Renee Zellweger, Jane Fonda: Todd Williamson/The Canadian Press
Sandra's done everything right with the look above. She's opted for a nude lip and done it so right. The rest of her face has a touch of bronzer to complement her flawless face. This is a great example of taking care of your skin — it's hard to believe Sandra's 48!
Mature beauty tip: It's never too late for sunscreen. Be sure to wear it before you moisturize every morning for youthful-looking skin.
Renee isn't wearing enough makeup here. Her skin looks pale, and she's in desperate need of blush. Her eyes barely have any shadow, while her brows really need some grooming. And her hair? A hot mess.
Mature beauty tip: As you age, the messy hair look doesn't really work. Polish it up. Either go sleek and sophisticated or full on sex pot. Finally, do those brows. A fresh set of brows is like a non-surgical eye lift.
Jane looks absolutely fabulous. At 75-years-old she's rocking that red carpet, unafraid to glam it up for the occasion. Jane's look is so dramatic and really plays up her beautiful features. Instead of a smokey eye, Jane's opted for a soft apricot here. This lights up her face and really accentuates her beautiful baby blues. Her lips look perfectly pouty.
Mature beauty tip: Don't be afraid of false lashes. Use individual lashes for some impact, without being too over the top.
Sally Field: John Shearer/The Canadian Press; Halle Berry: Jordan Strauss/The Canadian Press
Sally's looking a little disheveled here. The messy hair isn't the best for mature beauty. Sally has great skin, so she doesn't need much foundation. Her eyes look as if her eye makeup was smudging off, causing them to appear sunken and grey. Her lips, meanwhile, need more impact. A little red would liven up her face.
Mature beauty tip: Avoid a dark smokey eye if you're more mature. The shadow will only fall into your creases and highlight imperfections. Eye primer is key to avoid smudges and shadow settling into eye creases.
Halle looks beautiful. She's made a perfect selection of shimmer eye shadows and kept the brow bone bare for a more natural and flattering look. She's focused on her eyes and left her gorgeous full lips neutral. No complaints here on her fabulous look!
Mature beauty tip: If you have short hair and a lot of confidence, add volume and really bring it up and off your face!
