Closet Makeover!

Like so many women, Diane had a closet full of clothes but nothing to wear. It was a struggle each morning to find an outfit that made her feel good. So we enlisted fashion expert Genny Iannucci to take Diane on a shopping spree (in her own closet!) and teach her how to get the most out of her wardrobe. Here's what she learned.

Get a fresh perspective.

Mix and match garments in unexpected ways (e.g. dressy with casual; winter with summer). After all, opposites attract! Diane always wore her white button-up shirt in a formal way, but by pairing it with a great new blazer (a must-have!) and dark jeans, she opened herself up to a whole new world of casual wear.

Bring on the bling.

A little black dress is a closet staple, but there's no reason you can't add some pizzazz to this timeless classic. Accessories can instantly change an outfit, so don't skimp on the details. Be bold. The first step for Diane was to tailor her LBD so that it fit her properly. Next, Genny suggested pairing it with printed tights, a colourful belt and some bright scarves for a look that truly stands out of the crowd.

Break the rules.

The world of fashion is not black and white. Your shoes don't have to match your outfit, for example. Genny breathed new life into an old top of Diane's with an unexpected pair of red pumps. Mixed-metal bangles (another supposed faux pas) also added glam to the outfit.
