Once you try this flavourful version from Chef Jonathan Collins, you won't want to go back to storebought cranberry sauce!
1 pkg (16 oz ) cranberries, fresh or frozen
3/4 cup brown sugar
zest and juice of 1 medium orange
3 pieces star anise
1/2 cup ruby port
pinch kosher salt
- Add port to hot saucepan, slightly reduce to remove alcohol.
- Combine rest of ingredients in saucepan. Bring to boil and reduce to simmer for 20-30 minutes to desired consistency (the sauce will thicken considerably when it cools). Remove star anise or leave for garnish.
