There is a sweet surprise lurking in these witches' hats, says Canadian Living's Annabelle Waugh. Once you crack them open, it's just one magical treat after another.
1 1/4 cups (300 mL ) black and/or green chocolate coating wafers, such as Merckens
12 sugar cones
2 cups (500 mL) assorted Halloween candies
12 chocolate wafer cookies
as needed assorted licorice rope, and candy for decorating
- In microwaveable bowl, melt coating chocolate on high, stirring after 30 seconds, until smooth, about 1 minute.
- Fill sugar cones with Halloween candies. Using food-safe paintbrush or offset spatula, coat rim of each cone with chocolate; press cookie onto rim to make hat brim. Let stand on brim until set, about 3 minutes.
- Brush some of the remaining chocolate over cones to coat. Decorate with licorice and candies as desired, using remainingchocolate as glue. Let stand until set, about 10 minutes.
- Make-ahead: Store in airtight container for up to 4 days.
