Alison Milne has been designing interior spaces with her team out of their Toronto studio space since September 2008. She launched her business after years of school and junior positions at design firms around the city. It was during her showroom opening in the spring of 2009 that Alison realized how much of a role art played in her industry, and how little focus there was on this important aspect.
With that in mind, Alison began facilitating monthly exhibitions in her design studio, where she displayed the work of both local and international artists. Over the next few years, she led the business to take on a new meaning with a spotlight on the importance of art in the interior design process. Growing the gallery to a larger venue in Toronto's Queen West neighbourhood in 2011, Alison continued to expand her art business alongside her established interior design firm.
Alison prides herself on designing spaces and objects for her clients that are heavily influenced by the principles of the art world. When buying art, she advises her clients to invest in pieces that they love and that have real meaning to them. This applies not only when they are buying art in the traditional sense but also when they are purchasing furniture, objects, lighting and other decor items.
