Contemporary dining is an easy look to pull off if you're on a budget. It’s light, airy and feels very fresh for the new year.
Our starting off point for this contemporary country dining room was this great dining table. We love that it has an extending leaf, so you can add more people during larger dinner parties. It's incredibly affordable, and the turned legs add a quiet country charm. The set of chairs were a Craigslist find. They were originally a dark wood color so we spray painted them a soft blue, which we think really complements our table.
This buffet provides the room with a ton of storage. We love the open look, so you can display some of your favourite cookbooks and accessories. The buffet is topped off with two large green glass lamps which adds low lighting to create an intimate feel in the space.
The hanging wicker baskets were a great find. They were $65 each and we turned them into pendant lights. By using a hanging lamp cord, and spray painting the baskets white, we made a chic light fixture.
For the wall, we wanted to add a rustic but unique touch. We found a variety of discarded shutters, spray painted them in a complimentary tones of blues, greens, yellows and greys and hung them in an interesting way which adds visual interest and texture to the room. We can't believe how affordable it was to make!
The room is finished off with a flat weave rug, which keeps the room looking crisp and clean.
