Suede shoes can be a bit fussy, but if you take care of them they make a really smart footwear choice. Keeping them in top shape can be quick and easy with these three Life Made Easy how-to's.
Water Stains
Water can discolour and leave stains on your suede shoes. But funnily enough, you can remove those water stains with water!
Use a damp cloth, and wet the entire outside of the shoe.
Pat with a dry sponge or cloth to soak up any excess water, and then let the shoes dry completely.
Stuff shoe with newspaper while it dries to prevent any shrinkage or loss of shape.
Once dry, gently brush in one direction with a suede brush, this will help lift the nap.
Spot Stains and Dirt
Some stains and dirt can be removed with a pencil eraser!
Use a pencil eraser, and start erasing with moderate pressure in one direction to stained area; dirt should rub off and be visible on pencil eraser.
Using a suede brush, gently brush in one direction. This will also help lift stain and will help lift nap.
Salt Stains
Salt used on the roads in the winter can cause nasty white stains on your suede shoes.
Brush the salt stains with a suede brush, this will help to loosen and lift the salt particles.
Pour equal portions of water and vinegar into bowl.
Dampen a cloth with water/vinegar solution, lightly dampen the stained area.
Once dry, gently brush in one direction with a suede brush.
