Brides aren't the only ones under pressure to find the perfect gown. Come the big day, all eyes will be on their moms dress of choice as well. And between the wedding locale and colour palette—not to mention fit—navigating the world of mother-of-the-bride wear is no easy task. Enter fashion expert Genny Iannucci with four fab frocks that will have mom saying "I do" to the perfect mother-of-the-bride dress—no matter the type of wedding.

1. Semi-Formal Sophistication

A gown is not de rigueur at a semi-formal affair, so there's no need to overdo it. Opt for a classic shape juxtaposed against modern accessories. Tip: Look for wrinkle-resistant fabrics; you'll be out and about all day, and your look needs to hold up.

2. Outdoor Officiation

Choose fresh colours that complement the outdoor venue and layer up so you'll be ready for any weather. Tip: Be careful when selecting footwear. A substantial heel or wedge will help to keep your feet from sinking into grass or tripping up on cobblestones.

3. Destination: Chic

Look for a dress with a relaxed and breezy feel but that boasts a little something special to make it stand out. Tip: Go light with accessories to suit the casual atmosphere.

4. Tie-the-Knot Traditional

Don't be afraid to show a little skin, even at a formal event. Look for styles that highlight your best assets. Tip: Full-length is favourable, but be sure not to mimic the style or design features of your daughter's dress.
