The Season's Coolest Coats

Looking for a new coat? This fall, stylist Genny Iannucci says go bold or go home! We Canadians wear our coata as often as our favourite jeans, so why not opt for opulence? Here are Genny's top toppers:

The Cape

The cape is a trendy fashion statement that adds shape to any figure, just not always the most flattering one! Be sure to pair it with fitted clothing to avoid a bulky silhouette. Still, the simplicity and comfort of this style makes it a must-have for fall!

The Multipurpose Mantle

A coat that can function in varying weather conditions is an optimal choice. This fabulous military-inspired jacket from Givenchy has removable sleeves; two quick zips and the cozy coat becomes a vivacious vest!

The Technicolour Dreamcoat

A peacoat is a staple in any woman's closet, but who ever said it had to be basic black? Add a shot of colour, like this yellow number, to your wardrobe. Don't be afraid to pair it with other bright colours and even darker hues for a visual contrast.

The Punchy Print

Many people avoid printed coats because of their supposed limited use. However, if you choose one with a simple shape that incorporates a variety of neutrals, you'll end up with an interesting piece that you'll look forward to wearing over and over again!

The Two-Tone Topper

Two-toned coats are a great choice and they provide visual excitement and ample opportunity to accessorize. We paired a fuchsia and black jacket with varying shades of grey and black to complete the look.

The Textured Tartan

Textured coats are big this season, like this Pink Tartan piece with knitted-sleeve underlay. Not only does its dual texture catch the eye but, in this particular case, it gives the coat improved functionality in varying weather conditions.
