With a lot of us trying to be more environmentally conscious, more and more companies are coming up with ways to make products "greener."  Today, Frank is here to share with us his favourite eco-friendly DIY products.  

Here are Franks' top eco-friendly products:

1. Seal Once - Seals for decks, chairs, concrete. Safe for the environment, Seal-Once coating products are water-based, non-flammable and contain no VOCs, toxins or irritants.
2. Green E-Board - A better environmental alternative and upgrade to replace gypsum drywall and cement backer boards for walls, floors and counter tops.



3. Renew Resources - Composite decking for outside needs! They use rice hulls, a natural fiber! It's a large percentage of their formula used in the process of replacing wood.



4. Uniboard - Particle board (used in cabinets) - the NU Green® zero NAUF particleboard is an environmentally friendly solution on the market, in terms of sustainable development. NU Green® zero NAUF particleboard is FSC-certified (Forest Stewardship Council) and EPP-certified (Environmentally Preferred Product by the Composite Panel Association [CPA]). It contains 100% recycled and recovered wood fiber (pre-consumer), which saves trees and avoids landfill.



5. Superior Thermowood - They make wood that can be used almost anywhere you use traditional kiln-dried products or "pressure treated" lumber, indoors and out. Their unique "EcoDryer" design is the result of improving on a 20-year-old European process. It improves the look, durability, stability, and preservation of wood.  By "cooking" wood with heat and water vapour, much of the warping, twisting and cracking that can result from traditional processes is avoided. The need for chemical treatment is eliminated because most of the natural occurring sugars are removed along with the moisture and sap, substantially reducing the threat of attack from insects and rot fungi.
