This is a good example of using your entryway to show your personality. This vignette is not only a great area to receive guests but it also tells guests that the occupants spent time collecting meaningful pieces with character.

This photo shows a stairway leading to the front door. By adding the crystal chandelier and the mirror chi is moved around the space and not just out the front door. The vignette at the base of the stairs also helps to slow chi making it circulate around the lovely objects.

This is an extreme example of an entryway opening into a very long, narrow hall. Narrow halls like stairways channel chi and speed it up, making it negative. The addition of furniture, art and objects slows chi down without blocking it. Also the artwork draws the eye away from the end of the hall and invites guests (and chi) to slow down and enjoy the space.
Feng Shui 1 (before and after): shows a house that a client was thinking of buying. You walked right into the kitchen and when you stepped in you were less then 3 feet from a dining room table. They asked me to rework the space. After: changed the dining room into a casual sitting room. So now when you walk in you see two low attractive chairs and a coffee table as well as built-in baquette. The focus of the home went from eating to relaxing/welcoming.
Feng Shui 2 (before and after): shows an open concept space and the stairway drawing chi out and the alignment of front and back doors pulling chi out. But when you add furniture strategically (after) you can slow it down and allow it to meander around the space instead of flow straight out.
And finally, every entryway can benefit from the presence of a 100 Bird Scroll. By hanging this scroll in your home/entryway, you are inviting in happiness, luck and prosperity. The image of 100 birds is an old and powerful symbol - birds are very auspicious because they are the only being that can travel from the earthly realm to the heavens bringing our wishes and aspirations with them.
