Your coffee table should look good, serve you well, and display a few accessories that reveal your personal style.

Steven and Chris take a clean-lined rectangular wood coffee table and style it 3 ways.

Extra Coffee table info:

1. A standard height for a coffee table is 16" to 19", but go as high as 21" (a better choice if you entertain, so your guests have easier access to set down drinks). Ultimately, the height of your sofa and chairs should determine the height of the table (it should be the same height or 1" to 2" shorter than the seat height).
2. The length of a coffee table should be 2/3 the length of your sofa - the width should be determined by how much room you have between the upholstered pieces and the table in your seating arrangement (leave around 16" to 18" around each side of the table).
3. Your coffee table should be functional, but consider that what goes on, under and beside it will finish the look.
4. Your coffee table is a perfect spot to display a grouping or one stunning piece for impact - keep in mind to have varying heights and textures for visual interest.
5. Make sure to always leave room on the surface for setting down drinks or small plates when entertaining.
