Finding the right pair of jeans is right up there with bathing suit shopping - a daunting task!
Genny Iannucci helped five gorgeous women with five different shapes to find them the perfect fit for their jeans.
Read on to find out tips for how to fit your body type: full figured and petite, petite, boyish, tall and slim, and curvy.
Genny also teaches us some key words (muffin top, Lycra...) to keep in mind when looking for that perfect pair of jeans!
Watch episode 152 now.Pauline: Full Figured and Petite in heightPauline is full figured and also petite in height. This means that she needs to consider fit through her tummy and down her legs. Remember! Whatever you do, don't hide your beautiful curves under loose, baggy jeans.
Things to Remember:Ensure that you can easily do up the button at the waist - if it's too tight you may create some spill over the waistband (also know as a muffin top). To avoid a muffin top -a mid to regular rise jean gives extra tummy support. Try to avoid low-rise jeans, as they will only accentuate your middle. Wider waistbands also offer extra support through your midsection - some jeans even come with extra built in support for a comfortable and flattering fit. Look for 3-4% Lycra for stretch and memory in your jeans, over a stiff denim that will only add bulk to your shape.
Dark indigo, charcoal, or black jeans are a flattering option to create a long, lean line.
Pauline was put into a classic straight leg jean, but could also have opted for a boot cut or gentle flare. If wearing a boot cut or flare, do balance the volume on the bottom with a heel as high as you are comfortable in. Pass on the skinny jeans as they will emphasize your tummy.

Liz: PetiteA petite is generally defined as someone who is 5'4" and under regardless of size and shape. Think proportions. Hold out for a petite fit, over hemming a regular fit. You will see the difference in a shorter rise, adjusted knee and proper hip placement.
Things to Remember:Opt for a straight leg that's tailored through the hip and thigh to lengthen your legs, a mid-rise waist also creates the illusion of a longer leg.
While a dark wash is universally flattering, petite women can wear a lighter wash, just throw on a lighter top to unify the look and elongate your frame.
Pockets are a great detail featured on most jeans. Look for smaller back pockets, so they are relative to your frame. Pocket placement can be a great way to emphasize or distract from your derriere. Remember, the higher the pockets, the more lifted your derriere!

for jeans that fit nicely through the hips without being too tight at
the waist. A mid to lower rise jean creates the illusion of a smaller
waist by bringing a soft focus to the hips.
Things to remember:Wear a belt with low-rise jeans as it keeps everything in place. Boot cut, flared jeans and skinny jeans all work for a boyish figure to balance the silhouette and create the illusion of curves.
Find jeans with some Lycra for comfort, but remember that they will stretch - so go down a size. Lycra has great memory, and will retain the original shape.

Jessica: Tall and SlimSimilar to petites, the challenge with this body type is finding clothes to fit your proportions. Ensure that your jeans hit just below the ankle so they don't look abruptly short, and remember, the wider the jeans the longer you should wear them. Once the length has been sorted, Jessica can wear any rise or style of leg.Straight jeans emphasize the length of the legs while boot cut and flares create the illusion of curves. We put Jessica in a bold white jean to freshen up her look.

Things to remember:This goes for everyone - when you find that perfect pair of jeans, consider buying two pairs - one hemmed for flats and the other for heels.

French Dressing Jeans Genny: CurvyA curvy, or hourglass figure has a well-defined waist with hip and bust measurements that are roughly the same. The goal for Genny was finding jeans that fit well through the hips and waist. Often if the jeans fit through the hips there is gaping at the back of the waist - this is where your best friend, the tailor can help you out to create a custom fit.

Things to remember:Boot cut or flared jeans are great to balance your curves while wider jeans are very flattering for fuller thighs. Stay away from skinny jeans, as they will emphasize your curves - unless you're tucking them into boots, or with a flowing tunic to balance your curves.
Opt for clean outside seams, free of embellishment or contrast stitching - those details will only call attention to the thighs.
It's all about enhancing and emphasizing your assets. Genny loves her curves so she wasn't about to hide them!
