#1 Etched Glass Vessels

Transforming a plain glass vase into a dynamic, personal, and useful gift.
We will create a simple vase for a bouquet of flowers and a lidded vessel for layered soup and cookie ingredients.

What you'll need

-Glass Vessel
-Vinyl Lettering - Staples
-Etching Cream - Michaels
-Paint Brush
-Painters Tape

Instructions:

1.    Be sure glass surface is clean and dry
2.    Place vinyl lettering in the desired pattern. Any covered glass will remain clear and all exposed glass will be etched.
3.    Once desired area is covered, apply a thick layer of etching cream to exposed glass.
4.    Let etching cream stand for 5 minutes.
5.    Using warm water, thoroughly rinse the etching cream.
6.    Remove the vinyl lettering.
7.    Clean any remaining etching cream with gentle soap or glass cleaner.
8.    Place your guests favorite flowers in the vase for personal touch.

#2 Felt Tote

Using one piece of felt to create a tote to carry anything you may need to bring for a dinner party, birthday party, or weekend away. Your host can then use your tote to house firewood and newspaper in the living room or assembling fresh cut flowers in the garden.

What you'll need

-Felt - The Felt Store
-Snap Kit - Fabricland
-Scissors
-Button - Fabricland
-Marker

Instructions

1.    Cut your felt into a rectangle; this will be the full length of your tote.
2.    Lay your felt out horizontally.
3.    On the left end of your felt cut out a small square (approximately two times the width of your hand). This will become a handle.
4.    Fold your felt in half with your cut out side on top
5.    Use your existing handle hole as a template for your second handle. You will only cut out three sides of this square; leaving the side closest to your fold uncut. (This will become a flap which will help to keep your tote closed)
6.    With your felt still folded in half use your marker to mark the location of your snaps. The snaps will help keep your tote closed and secure
7.    Follow the instructions on your snap kit, puncture your felt and attach the snaps
8.    With all your snaps fastened use your marker to mark a spot on your tote (the underside of your flap) for your button.
9.    Secure the button
10.   Cut a small slit in your flap to accommodate the button.
11.   Your tote is now complete; use it to house flowers, a bottle of wine, or a good book when visiting a friend's house for the weekend.
12.    Because felt is so sturdy, this tote can be used for many applications. Particularly exciting is using it as a newspaper and kindling holder around the fireplace.
