I have to admit it: I have the best job in the world. I get to work with Steven and Chris and an amazing team...and we all get to tell you about our favourite stuff every day on the show!
We're always keeping our eyes open, looking for the best of everything to share with you - always on the hunt for the best recipes, the best fashions, the best home decor, you name it. We can't put EVERYTHING we find into the show (it's only an hour a day!), but I hope you'll enjoy some of the fabulous things that I'm going to be sharing with you in my brand new blog.
Walmart Mania!
As we all know, great stuff comes at all price-points. My personal style is all about mixing and matching the investment pieces that I wear to the office with less expensive pieces. We all have a good giggle on the show about how little I pay for things that LOOK expensive, so I challenged myself to find some of those brilliant buys this past week at WalMart.
I had a ball digging through some of the deep-discounts on the sale racks and even MORE fun scoping out some of the new fashions that are thinking ahead to spring (hallelujah!).
Take a look at some of the great deals and finds from my travels...
Wal-Mart is one of the best places to find trendy accessories to fill out your closet each season. They have an amazing selection of belts that seems to go on forever - loads of colours, widths, sizes -- you name it. And about half the selection was on sale - most were $5-$7!
Take a look at this wide white patent belt, perfect to throw around a great black tunic in the summer. It has a lovely perforated texture which makes it a little bit more special than a plain patent belt, but doesn't make it TOO trendy. For $5, how could I leave it there?
The shoe section was a treasure trove of cool, cut-rate finds, including these cool boots with adjustable buckles up the back. For a super-reasonable $19, you get a hot neutral shade and a good flat heel (nice relief if you're used to wearing sky-high shoes!).
These strappy silver dazzlers were marked down to $22 - what a steal. They are an inexpensive way to bring a little hit of uber-hot metallic into your wardrobe. The small gold buckles are a fun little touch. They would add a touch of glitz when worn with a your favourite pair of jeans, a white T-shirt and a simple black blazer.
In the GEORGE fashion section I spotted a few special tops that I thought would be a great addition to anyone's wardrobe this spring...
I love this Stella McCartney-esque T-shirt that's far more versatile than you may think. It may look like it's following the punk-inspired look of last season, but here the trend has been tamed-down and now it's not just for teens anymore. This long T-shirt has a great graphic 'necklace' pattern on the front in black and white, it would be like having instant jewelery to go with any outfit. Think of it as a 2-for-1 deal!
Check out these cool cotton blouses - they would be perfect to throw over a little tank in the summer. They come in two different fresh white striped patterns and classic black. It's got a forgiving silhouette, perfect for anyone looking for a go-to top when the weather gets warmer. Wear it with a rolled-up pair of boyfriend jeans and a cute little silver necklace - how sweet!
I saved my favourite for last. Take a look at these gorgeous ruffled sleeveless blouses - they come in a bunch of gorgeous colours and have a nice gathered elastic bottom. You can dress them up or dress them down and, if you can't decide which shade is your favourite, at only $14 you can afford to invest in more than one!
