Comedian and actor Brent Butt is best known for his role as Brent Leroy on the CTV sitcom Corner Gas, which he also created. The series was an instant hit when it made its debut in 2004, and is currently in production of its sixth and final season. Brent recently lost some weight and he wants to show one dish he makes that helped him accomplish this. He tries to take his old favourites and change them to make them more healthy - here's one example of that!

RECIPE:

Brent Butt's Healthy Turkey Patties

1 lb ground turkey
1 yellow onion chopped finely
1/4 cup pine nuts chopped finely
2 pcs multi-grain bread
1/2 cup skim milk
1/2 TBSP dry sage (or to taste)
1/2 TBSP ground tumeric (or to taste)
2 TBSP ketchup
Salt + pepper to taste

Place the bread slices in a large mixing bowl and pour milk over top. When the bread has absorbed all the milk, break it up into bit-sized pieces and add in all the other ingredients. Form into patties of personal desired size.
Spray rack of broiler pan with nonstick cooking spray; place burgers on rack. Broil burgers 4 inches from heat 5 to 6 minutes per side or until no longer pink in center (165 degrees F). Serve on whole-wheat buns with your favourite toppings.

Brent is performing at the Red Robinson Theatre on Feb 21 in Vancouver. For more information go to: www.brentbutt.com
