Ponytails are hot this season and Fabio came in to create stylish versions of the old school ponytail!
ATHLETIC PONYTAIL
"FRESH, I PUT LITTLE EFFORT IN MY HAIR AND STILL LOOK FANTASTIC"
The Look: Finished your work out, feeling empowered.
How to get it: This ponytail should be tightly pulled back. It should be gathered just above the base of the neck so to not touch neck/shoulders. The fringe, if longer, should be pulled to one side or straight back using a hair pin to secure. Do not use gels or non-aerosol spray; it will make it look dated, plus dirty. Also, if the hair is extremely long, place ponytail higher up or double fold the ends so as not to hang too low.
Tips: This look is best achieved with hair that is 1-2 days old, pull back and secure with hair safe elastic. Leave a few wisps in the fringe for a flirty look.
SIDE PONYTAIL
"FLIRTY YET ELEGANT- I'M ON TOP OF EVERY TREND"
The Look: Very elegant, but young and fresh feeling. The more length you have the more intricate you can make it. The idea is to have an asymmetric feel with a hot fringe area that is swept down or to the side. All the young Hollywood starlets are sporting this one.
How to get it: In an area behind either ear, tease a section so the pins have more grip. Using a comb-out brush, bring all hair to this low side area and use pins to lightly secure. Use hair safe elastic to gather tighter. Do not worry about hair that is too short to move all the way into the ponytail. Those pieces just need to be secured by bobby pins
Tips: Spray your brush first and comb repeatedly to train hair, tease for a stronger base behind either ear and pre-curl for more options.
FORMAL PONYTAIL
"FASHIONABLE, I JUST LEFT THE SALON"
The Look: We've seen them at the Oscars as well as on the pages from our TIFF footage. They are unstructured, sexy and a real snap.
How to get it: Tease a section of hair in the crown area and just below it. Then using some spray pull back sections to this teased area and secure lightly with bobby pins. Leave some loose pieces in the front. With all the hair pulled up, use hair safe elastic to secure all ends, and hide by wrapping hair around it.
Tips: Pull some pieces tight and others loose, spray will help along the way. The ponytail should be just above the occipital bone and below the crown.
