What Your Handwriting Says About You

Your handwriting is much more than just marks on a paper. Those who specialize in graphology, the practice of handwriting analysis, believe your penmanship is a virtual printout of your psyche. Today, Elaine Charal, a certified graphologist, stopped by to share what your handwriting says about you.

First, grab a pen and write out the sentence "My tall t's and d's tell tall tales about my handwriting."

1. If your m's have v-wedges at the baseline of writing, you are very analytical: You don't accept existing information, but want to know "why." If your m's have needle points, this means you have sharp, comprehensive thinking and are usually three or four steps ahead of others. If the tops of your m's are rounded, it means you're a cumulative, step-by-step thinker who has patience (when you're interested!) and who is fairly methodical. If you have a variety of m's, it means you're an efficient thinker who draws on many thought processes to solve problems.

2. If your t-bars stand alone, it means you're a matter-of-fact thinker. If they join to the next letter, it means you have fluidity of mind and are able to talk your way into or out of most issues or change the subject without the other person realizing. If your t-bars are long, it means you are enthusiastic and a natural leader: You get excited about what you do and others want to be a part of it. If your t-bars are mid-point on your t-stem, you set practical, achievable goals. If you wish to enhance your goals, you may like to make sure your t-bars are crossed in the upper portion of your t-stem.

3. If your t-stems are shorter than your upper loops, this means you are an independent thinker: You're not afraid to project your own ideas over the traditional ideas of others. If your t-stems are long, you are a go-getter who usually bites off way more than you can chew! You'll need to be in charge of what you do because you won't subjugate yourself to others.

4. If the downstrokes on your y's are straight, this means you're determined. If your lower loops are wide, this means you love variety and are happiest when you're juggling three or four things at once. If you only have a downstroke, this means you have a leadership/management type of personality and do your best work independently. If you have a very small loop at the end of your downstroke that cuts off before the baseline, you are quite particular regarding the choice of your close friends and will cut your feelings off if you don't want to deal with something right away.

Now, test what you've learned! Take a look at the handwriting samples below and see if you can tell which signature goes with which trait!
