How can you stay positive?
People need to remember that we choose to feel the way we do -- we make all of our own choices. People ask how to remain positive or happy, but that's really the same as asking how you remain unhappy. Every time someone acts rude, how you interpret the situation will decide how it affects you. You can choose to be unhappy when someone acts a certain way or you can choose to stay happy. Accept the fact that people are imperfect, then you can begin to change and become more positive. You can change the world by changing yourself because attitude is everything.
Tips for getting over your anger
The important thing is to realize that we have a choice
If you have an encounter with someone in the office, for instance, that was unpleasant and you become upset, angry, then remind yourself that you have a choice.
Ask yourself these questions:
1) How do I feel now? - Angry
2) How do I want to feel? - I want to feel calm, relaxed, at ease, peaceful
3) How do I choose to feel? Remind yourself you have a choice and choose to feel better.
If you are feeling angry, you can also ask yourself "How long will I feel upset?" You might not know the exact answer, but emotions and feelings are constantly changing. Become aware that emotions are fleeting and that, later on, you'll feel better. This offers some relief and helps you feel better, not bitter.
Key secrets to staying positive/foster positive thinking in your life:
1) Look for the good
We find what we look for. If you're looking for something to complain about, you'll find that. Look for something to be grateful for, you'll find that.
2) Be grateful for what you have
The more we are grateful for what we have, the more we will have to be grateful for.
3) Accepting what IS
Most problems come from dealing with people - we make mistakes, we're imperfect - as long as we can accept this fact, we can be happier. If I can accept the fact that people are imperfect, how can I become angry?
4) Go with the flow
Life was meant to be easy. It's like a river and we're in a row boat: some people try to row upstream with the thought life is a struggle , but if we're willing to go with the flow, go downstream, then we'll have an easier time at life. A lot of scholars are coming out with the philosophy of the Tao--how to go with life, not to struggle against it.
