Canada has spoken.

Canadians voted in record numbers for CBCSports.ca's athlete of the year. The poll is now closed and the winner will be revealed during CBC Sports Weekend on Saturday at 5:55 p.m. ET.

Of course, our list was not definitive but we felt each of the candidates made a worthy, if not, spectacular choice as Canada's top athlete in 2012.

CBC Sports Weekend host Scott Russell made the case for all of them in his latest Field of Play blog.
