Serena Williams was named the top seed at the Rogers Cup women's tournament during the draw Saturday.
Williams' seeding was no surprise. The top-ranked player in the world won the French Open earlier this year and will be playing for her third career title at Rexall Centre in Toronto.
Australian Open winner Victoria Azarenka is the No. 2 seed followed by Agnieszka Radwanska.
Top-ranked Canadian player Eugenie Bouchard of Westmount, Que., will face Alisa Kleybanova in the first round.
The other Canadians at the tournament, Stephanie Dubois of Laval, Que., and Sharon Fichman of Toronto, will play each other in the first round.
The first round gets underway Monday.
