Soccer players during an AFC Champions League match in Iran got the fright of their lives this week when one team member picked up an object on the pitch, and it exploded after he tossed it aside.

Described as a mini-grenade or firecracker, it was found by midfielder Adel Kolahkaj of Iran's Sepahan team, which was playing Al-Ahli of Saudi Arabia at Foolad Shahr Stadium in the quarter-final first leg on Wednesday night. It's believed the explosive item was among the debris thrown by fans onto the playing area.

Apparently no one was hurt, and the game was cancelled.
