Brad Lauer is a Senator once again, but this time, he's behind the bench. The Ottawa Senators have named the former player assistant coach.
Lauer joins head coach Cory Clouston, assistant coach Greg Carvel, goaltending coach Eli Wilson and video coach Tim Pattyson. Former assistant Luke Richardson will continue coaching part-time with the club.
Chris Schwarz was also appointed conditioning coach. Dom Nicoletta is assistant athletic therapist.
Lauer's history with the team stems back to 1993-94, when he played 30 games in a Sens jersey.
From 2002-03 to 2006-07, he was Clouston's assistant for five seasons with the WHL Kootenay Ice.
Lauer's last two seasons were spent as assistant coach with the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals.
The 42-year-old also played for the New York Islanders, Chicago Blackhawks and Pittsburgh Penguins.
A native of Humboldt, Sask., Lauer ended his playing career in 2001-02 with the Sheffield Steelers of the British Super League.
