Jasey Jay Anderson is concentrating on giant slalom as he heads for the 2010 Winter Olympics. (Ahn Young-joon/Associated Press files)Jasey Jay Anderson may be old by snowboarding standards, but he can still bring it on any given Sunday.
The 33-year-old Canadian veteran, from Mont-Tremblant, Que., beat Austrian Benjamin Karl in the final of a World Cup men's parallel giant slalom at La Molina, Spain, to take the gold medal.
Austria's Andreas Prommegger was third ahead of Swiss boarder Simon Schoch.
Canada's Matthew Morrison, from Burketon, Ont., was eighth.
"I didn't expect to win but was working for it," said Anderson, who earned his 23rd victory in his 200th World Cup start. "It's awesome to win my anniversary race.
"I'm so happy to be part of it for such a long time now. It seems that I turn out to be the grandpa of it but I still have one more year."
Anderson, who announced earlier this season he is concentrating on the alpine events headed for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, sits fourth in the overall parallel GS standings, two places ahead of Morrison. Siegfried Grabner of Austria is well out in front.
Amelie Kober of Germany won the women's event. The top Canadian was Caroline Calve, of Aylmer, Que., in seventh.
