The Canadian club appeared set to earn a second consecutive road win for the first time in franchise history, but Toronto defender Julius James was called for an obstruction foul inside the box and Dallas striker Kenny Cooper converted from the penalty spot.
It was Cooper's second goal of the game, and the Dallas striker now has 18 on the season, one fewer than league-leader Landon Donovan of the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Dallas defender Adrian Serioux's throw in deep into the box gave Toronto defenders problems and after a botched clearance, the ball landed at the feet of Cooper, who slotted the ball home between the legs of goalkeeper Greg Sutton.
Dallas appeared to be en route to the win but defender Toronto Marco Velez had other ideas. Danny Dichio played a gorgeous back flick with his foot off a throw in to Velez, who nodded the ball home to tie the game in the 72nd minute.
Toronto took the lead for the first time 16 minutes later when Chad Barrett fed a gorgeous pass to Wynne, who slipped behind the defence and played a perfect chip shot over the head of goalkeeper Dario Sala.
With just two minutes left in regulation time Dallas seemed doomed but James, who came into the game as a substitute in the 90th minute, was called for a foul inside the box when the referee judged he pulled down a Dallas player.
Cooper stepped up to the penalty spot and powered a shot that slid underneath Sutton.
