Dallas Stars wear hot seller on P.E.I.

Last Updated: Wednesday, March 5, 2008 | 7:21 AM ET

The move of Murray Harbour hockey star Brad Richards from the Tampa Bay Lightning to the Dallas Stars has led to a surge in sales for Stars merchandise at sports stores on P.E.I.

Many store managers have had to order in extra supplies.

"It makes a pretty big impact on the merchandise," Mike Morrison of Source for Sports in Charlottetown told CBC News Tuesday.

"In the past with Dallas, it wasn't a very good seller. There wasn't too many fans around.

"But now, for sure, we have people in every day looking for it. So he makes quite an impact when he switches teams."

Morrison said luckily he hasn't been left with a huge inventory of Tampa Bay Lightning shirts and hats.

Most of that sold over Christmas.

Morrison expects to see a lot of Tampa Bay goods showing up during the next few months at Island yard sales and flea markets.
