Members of Team Europe will awake Sunday needing just 21 points in the final skins games to win the Continental Cup curling tournament.

Mirjam Ott and Pal Trulsen took a combined 64 of a possible 80 points from North America's Kelly Scott and Jean-Michel Menard in skins play Saturday evening to grab a 180-100 advantage in Chilliwack, B.C.

Ott had little trouble in her 40-point match, posting a convincing 34-6 victory, while Trulsen prevailed 30-10 over Menard, who scored a huge win Friday night to maintain North America's slim lead.

Trailing 110-72 following Saturday's morning draw, the North Americans stepped up their play in the afternoon, taking two of three mixed doubles matches.

Despite its struggles, Europe maintained a 116-84 lead entering evening play.

Alberta's Shannon Kleibrink and her partner Russ Howard of Moncton stole a point in the final end to cement a 6-3 win over Europe's Andrea Schopp and Markku Uusipaavalniemi.

North America recorded its second victory of the afternoon when Americans Debbie McCormick and Shawn Rojeski scored six in the seventh end on their way to an 11-9 decision over Monika Wagner and Kalle Kiiskinen.

Ott and Ewan MacDonald prevented a North American sweep, scoring three points in the final end to edge Scott and Francois Roberge 6-5.

Europe went ahead in the morning after securing 50 of a possible 60 points.

Uusipaavalniemi doubled American Pete Fenson 20-10, while Schopp of Germany used a crucial takeout in the final end to blank McCormick 30-0.

"Mark had a good game to help us finish ahead," Scotland's David Murdoch, the 2006 world champion, told CBC Sports.

Leading 4-0 in the final end, Schopp faced a tough angle raise with her last shot. She calmly managed to slide her rock past the American stone for a two-rock takeout and the 26-point skin.

CBC Sports will have live coverage of the men's and women's skins games on Sunday, starting at 12:30 p.m. ET.
