John Nash won't be returning as general manager of the Portland Trail Blazers next season.
The NBA club, following one of the worst seasons in franchise history, announced Tuesday night that it would not renew Nash's contract for 2006-07.

"All of us at the Trail Blazers appreciate John's effort and hard work under difficult circumstances and thank him for the enormous class he displayed throughout his time here," Patterson said.
Nash spent the past three seasons at the helm of the Trail Blazers. It was his fourth stint as a GM in the NBA.
"I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the Trail Blazers organization for the opportunity afforded to me to be a part of this team and this community over the last three seasons," Nash said. "Although we shared some successes as an organization, I wish we could have made more rapid progress on the court."
In 2003-04, the Trail Blazers broke a string of 21 straight playoff appearances by posting a 41-41 record in Nash's first season.
After a losing campaign in 2004-05, the Trail Blazers finished 21-61 last season for the worst record in the NBA.
